A Sony Computer Entertainment Europe spokesperson has confirmed the existence of the 80GB Playstation 3 system - stating that there are presently no plans to release the super-sized machine outside of Korea. In fact, we’re told the 80GB model will be the only kind of PS3 sold in the country.
“The chassis of the 80GB Korean PlayStation 3 is identical to the chassis of the European version. The only exception is the larger hard drive,” read a recent official filing on the new model stateside.
With the 20GB model PS3 being dropped in North America, and the lower-end system failing to see the light of day in PAL regions at all, how long before this 80GB console does reach new regions? And, perhaps more pertinently, will the 60GB system be reduced in price when it is? More on all this soon.
